Greater Salisbury Committee’s James R. Thomas, Jr., PE, FACEC was appointed to the Salisbury-Wicomico Planning & Zoning Commission.

Salisbury – Mayor Jake Day is pleased to announce his appointment of the Greater Salisbury Committee’s James R. Thomas, Jr., PE, FACEC to the Salisbury-Wicomico Planning & Zoning Commission. Mr. Thomas received a unanimous vote from the City Council for his appointment and will join the Committee at their next meeting.

Jim Thomas was President and CEO of George, Miles & Buhr, LLC engineering & architecture firm of Salisbury, Maryland  for twenty years.  He graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Civil Engineering and has over forty years’ experience as an engineering consultant. He has completed over seventy projects relevant to his position on the board, including the Crownsville State Water Treatment Plant in Anne Arundel County, the structural design of Chesapeake Hall at Salisbury University, and the West Rehoboth Wastewater Project in Sussex County, Delaware.  He is an active member of both the American Council of Engineering Companies’ (ACEC) national and local organizations and served as President of the national council from May 1997-98. He is now a Past Chair and Trustee of the ACEC Business Insurance Trust and is Past Chair and a member of the International Engineering Committee.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Thomas has built an extensive network of leaders in the engineering industry that spans the nation, exposing himself to unique opportunities and insights that have proven invaluable to his clients.  He is expected to provide the Salisbury-Wicomico Planning & Zoning Commission with a new outlook on local projects as the Committee plans for the future of Salisbury.
