The “Tails of Taneytown” Pet Parade and Contests began as a revitalization event to draw people to downtown Taneytown. This year, organizers had 21 pets participate most were dogs but they did have one.

This year’s event was held in Loving Memory of “Trooper” a Welsh Corgi who was companion to Cheri Thompson, one of the even founders. Trooper led the very first Parade. Now it is an Annual Event.

Smallest:  1st Place – King (Mini Pin), 2nd Place – Milo (Chihuahua, 3rd Place – Marshall (Schweenie).  We had participants from Taneytown, Union Bridge, Westminster, Finksburg, Gettysburg Pa, & Glenville Pa,

The organizers collected Pet Food Donations that went to the Humane Society of Carroll County. Proceeds from entries will go to the Animal Advocates of Carroll County.

The judges were: Debbie Palmisano, Jo Vance, and Tara Mayers (all were judges last year as well).  The organizers said they did an excellent job last year and they had so much fun they were happy to be asked back.

Registration/Set Up Volunteers were Jeff Thompson and Connie Giannotto.

Although the event had no official sponsor, Thompson said they hoped to secure some for next year. Her hope is to be able to give a ribbon to every pet that participates in the Parade, as well as the ribbons for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places.  Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor for next year’s event can contact her at ravent16@yahoo.com.
