Largo, Md.— Six Flags America welcomes one and all – from pint-sized pumpkins to scary skeletons and beyond – to join in the biggest and best Halloween celebration in the region: FRIGHT FEST 2002!! Six Flags America, the region’s pioneer in theme park Halloween festivities, has been hosting an original, unique and awe-inspiring Halloween-themed event for almost a decade!! Guests of all ages will enjoy Six Flags America’s truly spooktacular combination of world-class thrills and terrifying chills! . FRIGHT FEST 2002 opens October 4 and takes place every Friday night, Saturday and Sunday through November 3.

As the season changes from summer to fall, Six Flags America undergoes changes of its own. The summer’s bright sunny landscape transforms into fall’s wickedly haunting locale -- the perfect setting for Halloween FUN of monstrous proportions! And what would Halloween be without a truly haunted house? Six Flags America is home to *Brutal Planet – a haunted house like no other that uses terrifying high-tech special effects and a unique mix of sci-fi and rock-and-roll to send visitors into a new dimension of fear.

Looking for a kid-friendly version of Halloween? Six Flags America has that too! Maryland’s only theme park puts a festive twist on the traditional trick-or-treat just for kids! Parents will love watching their children search for goodies scavenger-hunt style from “candy post” to “candy post” in a safe and exciting environment in Looney Tunes Movie Town - renamed for Halloween fun as Looney Tunes Spooky Town. The Trick or Treat Trail is open to kids under 54”, operating nightly from 5 - 8 p.m. during FRIGHT FEST 2002. As an additional bonus, for the first two weekends of FRIGHT FEST 2002, one of the “candy posts” will distribute a FREE ticket for a child admission to the park next spring. That ticket will be valid from opening day through April 27th, 2003.

Tiny Halloween thrill-seekers will also enjoy playing inside a giant inflatable pumpkin affectionately called The Great Pumpkin or perhaps they’ll fancy a whirl in the Not-So-Scary Kiddie Hayride or possibly the walk through the Children’s Not-So-Haunted Haunted House – both designed specifically for small ghouls and goblins.

Other “family oriented” attractions include the new Fright Lights hayride through a brilliant display of twinkling Halloween themed lights as well as the Patient Creatures’ Theater featuring Carpathian’s Ghost Stories by Day and Grim’s Scary Tales by Night. During FRIGHT FEST 2002, the Looney Tunes Theater is home to spooky creatures who tell ghost stories in the daylight and as dusk falls, the tales turn more frightening to match the darkness outside.

Guests looking for the ultimate scary experience at FRIGHT FEST 2002 have an array of frightening fair in which to choose at Six Flags America. New this year, daring Guests are invited to play Fearanoia, one wicked game of ultimate survival. Six Flags America will create the supreme Halloween experience where park-goers can actively participate in this “game” based on the premise of “last man standing.” Fearanoia is FREE to play but registration is required each night from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at the Fast Lane booth on Main Street. Several Six Flags America “grim reapers,” otherwise known as “bodytaggers,” will be searching out - and thus eliminating - Fearanioa-playing Guests throughout the night at the park. Beware! Guests never know when they will be tapped to “end their session of play” by these bodytaggers. The goal is to stay “alive” throughout the night and become eligible to win a Six Flags America 2003 Season Pass!! Do you dare play??

Other “scary” adventures for strong-willed souls include the Midnight Express Haunted Train where ghosts and monsters appear out of the darkness as this haunted locomotive passes through the dangerous thickets surrounding Six Flags America. Dare to enter Hall Manor – House of Horrors, an abandoned residence for decades where spirits remain and do not take kindly to intruders. Or check out Wolfbane, a take on the urban legend where an innocent bystander was in the wrong place at the wrong time. By the mysterious powers of the unknown – along with a full moon – this unlucky person is transformed into…a werewolf!!

FRIGHT FEST 2002 also features seasonally-themed live shows including the Terror in Tombtown stunt show, X-Treme D’Illusions, an exciting illusion/magic show and The Phenomenal Hypnosis of Puck, featuring a master hypnotist.
